Lights, Camera...Paint is an art trail around Worcester City Centre in collaboration with Worcester Film Festival, showcasing local creatives movie mash-ups themed artwork.
20 artworks will be chosen to feature in shop windows forming a free walking trail across Worcester City centre. These will be joined by 5 works that have been designed by local charity art groups from Age UK, Onside Advocacy, ASPIE and NHS New Opportunities Worcestershire.
This project was created by Artists Clubhouse and Worcester Film Festival to celebrate and highlight all of the different types and uses of art in the film industry. The trail will lead up to the film festival at the end of September, running from the August bank holiday weekend until the end of September (24th August - 29th September).
Worcester Film Festival runs from 25th -28th September, you can find out more about the film festival and purchase tickets when released at www.worcesterfilmfestival.co.uk.
You can pick up a copy of the art trail maps in Odeon, the Tourist Information Centre, Wilde Studio, Art is Art Gallery, House of Haby, Script Haven, Tripel B, The Dice Box & Pack It In.
The maps also feature an activity sheet with artwork designed by last year's winner Parth Trivedi.

My pieces are inspired by Hideo Nakata's 'Ringu' and Takashi Miike's 'One Missed Call', both centring on female leads that have to navigate evil presences communicating through technological means. Through my use of Oil Pastel, Pencil and Acrylic on a Wooden Panel, I wanted to convey the characters emotion at contact with their respective haunters.

I have a background in architecture, which lead me to a love of drawing buildings, and then mixed this with my love of nature to become a wildlife artist. Elephants are my favourite animal, so I had to include Dumbo, and seeing as he fly's, seeing him sail across the moon - E.T style - it was an obvious choice for me.

I am a big fan of the animation Mr Benn, and this inspired my artwork. During each episode of Mr Benn, he puts on a different fancy dress costume, and goes on an adventure based on that costume. I thought it would be fun to mash up Mr Benn artwork with different well known film and TV franchises that I enjoy watching, such as Indiana Jones, James Bond, Harry Potter and Star Trek to name a few.

I find that the bad guy is always more interesting to draw. Also I love an old school hero v villain story. My favourite medium is biro pen; in this drawing I have used all different colours of biro, showing my favourite villain ‘Joker’. You have the nostalgia of Nicholson, the more recent Leto and the excellence of Ledger!

I predominantly create artwork using charcoal, focusing on moodily lit portraiture. I’ve been inspired by the beauty, desire and the allure of the unobtainable depicted by this scene. Both American Beauty and Barbie, portrayed an ideology of perfection in a utopian view of society. They went on a journey, unravelling the complexities and struggles that lay beneath the surface of their own worlds.

I am a creative designer and digital artist from Worcester whose work generally focuses on typography. I’ve been obsessed with director Tim Burton’s work since I was a teenager, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ‘mash-up’ his 1993 film ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ with a Walt Disney favourite of mine, ‘Mary Poppins’ (1964).

This was inspired by my love for Carebears as a little girl, then becoming a teenager and watching Clueless for the first time. It’s a transition from being a small girl enjoying cartoons and being somewhat naive to becoming a young woman and finding herself. Being a mother to two girls, with a bigger age gap I’ve noticed that, that time goes all too quickly.

12. Lunch Break

The piece ‘Lunch Break’ is inspired by the recurring visual Easter Egg present in Pixar Films, one in which suggests each film is connected in a wider universe. It shows a number of Pixar characters seemingly coming together to enjoy a spot of lunch from their respective sets above a geometric depiction of Worcester Cathedral. The composition is based on the photograph ‘Lunch Atop a Skyscraper ’ by Charles C. Ebbets. It is something of a departure to my usual style which focuses on more structural and architectural based drawings, often of historical or culturally significant buildings such as Cathedrals. However, the use of a basic geometric region to contrast the more detailed focus of the piece is a constant. This is often used to maintain depth or to give prominence to the tonal pen/coloured pencil work within the image.

I'm Merty, an illustrator who's work centres around both natural and industrial structures and landscapes. My piece is inspired by the film 'Titanic' and TV shows 'Our Flag Means Death' and 'Once Upon a Time'. I love these film/TV shows for their immersive feels and depictions of history (exaggerated or not) as well as their iconic ships that called out for me to illustrate.

This artwork is a collage displaying images from the Wizard of Oz, which promoted conversion between the members of their memories of the film. The members created this by colouring pages inspired by the film and bringing them together to create a collage, with other images from the internet. Age UK Worcester, Malvern Hills & Hereford Localities is an independent local charity. Working in the local community to help older people for many years; assembling a dedicated office & shop staff team and dedicated volunteers help us deliver local services and activities to older people across Herefordshire (excluding HR9 postcodes) & Worcestershire. Our mission is to make a positive difference to the lives of older people by providing services that help maintain self-respect, dignity and independence, provide support as needed and serve to enhance the quality of everyday life.
We run weekly Dementia Meeting Centres at the following locations:

15. Jurassic Mash-up

All participants are from ‘The Aspie Art Group’ who come together weekly to be creative. The theme running through each image is ‘Jurassic Park’ mixed up with other TV and film influences. Shaun the Sheep, Lost in Spaceosaur, Noel’s House Party, Barbie, Madagascar, Holmer and Star Trek The Borg, Harry Potter, Kung Foo Pandosaur and Kermit riding Miss Piggyosaur. All materials used in the ‘Aspie Art Group’ are all donated or unwanted art materials. We have also used recyclable paper and pencils.
Aspie is a social self-help and motivational group for adults with Aspergers’ Syndrome (Aspie) as well as for friends, partners, and parents/carers can meet and be supported. We meet at Vesta Tilly House Lowesmoor WR1 2RS on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are many activities that take place; we have a football team, and we also do cricket, there are pool, poker and chess tournaments, the art group, and the weekly quiz. Anyone is welcome at Aspie whether they have an official diagnosis of autism, are on the waiting list for an autism assessment or are self-diagnosed.

I’m Leo, a queer artist, creative and performer from South Wales, studying drama in Worcester. The films that inspired this work are Beetlejuice and Little Shop of Horrors. These cult classics were my favourites growing up, mixing the strange and unusual with the musical. These films have a core message of weirdos fitting in, making them a perfect mash up!

Hello, I am Parth Trivedi & I am a self-taught artist from Worcester drawing inspiration from films. I love character studies - When I first saw Joker (2019), I loved it and saw lots of similarities between Arthur Fleck and Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver (1976). I always wondered that what if instead of Martin Scorsese in the back seat, he was joined by Arthur…what if Arthur inspired Travis?
Parth was our Lights, Camera…Paint winner for 2023 and designed this year’s artwork for our free activity sheets. His design was not included in our competition this year to avoid conflict of interest.

This artwork was inspired by the TV show Game of Thrones and the movie Rise of the Guardians, featuring Daenerys Targaryen and Jack Frost respectively. Rise of the Guardians has been a childhood favourite and comfort film for years. Recently, my sister has been showing me Game of Thrones and it's become my favourite day of the week. I decided to mash up new and old favourites for this piece.

By the clients and tutors from New Opportunities Worcestershire, an NHS service helping clients in their mental health recovery by engagement in a range of meaningful activities. This collaborative piece was inspired by the film ‘Swallows and Amazons’.
Our service fosters health and wellbeing and we felt this theme reiterates some of the values in the film, such as; the importance of independence and freedom, of practice and perseverance when learning new skills, and the joy of being in nature.Many of the items created are inspired by and created within nature, developing skills in a safe space, from our groups running art, craft, photography, horticulture, and woodwork, using recycled and reclaimed materials when possible.

21. Gone with the…Beetlejuice

I am an amateur artist who has never entered an art competition. I mainly create fantasy works in acrylics and pencil on pagan themes in local settings.
Gone with the Wind was my late mum's favourite movie and I thought it would be fun to reimagine it's iconic movie poster with my favourite movie, Beetlejuice, as the hero with a reinterpretation of the setting using Burtonesque styling.
22. Going Up In Location

Our community group used wooden house shapes to create our own set of houses inspired by property TV shows such as Location, Location, Location, then used the houses to make our own interpretation of the iconic scene from the film ‘Up’.
We are a Community group that come together monthly and explore creative activities to promote mindfulness and positive mental wellbeing.

My passion lies in digital art, and I decided to combine Friday the 13th and Disney's Frozen. I wanted to have some sort of horror element in my piece but since this competition is family friendly, I decided to make Jason from Friday the 13th shine as the Queen of Arendelle.
